Training
Our staff are trained to be at the top of their game
Our staff members’ receive regular training to help them thrive in their roles and develop new, important skills. Without this training and a super-skilled workforce, we wouldn’t be the green leader we are today.
This is advantageous for our many public and private sector clients as it ensures their projects are carried out by green specialists that possess exactly what it takes to deliver the highest of standards.
We offer several types of training to suit the needs of our team:
Every new member of staff is given hands-on, contract specific, induction training. This explains everything the employee needs to know about Glendale and the vital part they play in delivering a superb service to our customers.
Training includes:
-
- Welcome to Glendale!
- the scene
- A tour of the facilities
- Introduction to company procedures
- Summary of the employee’s responsibilities
- Use of vehicles and machinery
- Site-specific requirements
- Health and safety training
- A full skills assessment
- Creation of a bespoke, individual training plan
Training is given via our E-Learning system, Human Focus, and on a one-to-one or group basis with the company’s experienced team members.
All of our employees have access to Glendale’s suite of RoSPA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents) accredited health and safety training via our E-learning tool, Human Focus.
Modules include first aid at work, manual handling, use of hazardous substances, near-miss reporting, use of display screen equipment, asbestos safety, fire safety, environmental protection, data protection and the General Data Protection Regulation, and noise.
Employees are tested after each module to ascertain if they have understood and can apply the content. When the employee completes a module they receive a certificate, and the system enables them to build a widely recognised training portfolio.
This tool supports the induction process and provides annual refresher training for all staff from apprentice to director level, and is tailored to suit their roles and responsibilities. It can be accessed from any device provided it has an internet connection, and there is also a Human Focus App available.
People are our most important asset, and their satisfaction and engagement levels are vital.
Part of our commitment to developing our employees is to carry out yearly Performance and Development Reviews (PDRs). The aims of a PDR are to:
- Ensure everyone understands what is expected of them.
- Create a clear link between them and the wider business goals.
- Identify and develop talent.
- Recognise and reward good performance.
- Ensure everyone has the right tools at their disposal to perform their roles to the best of their ability.
PDRs also help us to identify career pathways for our staff and ensure opportunities for appropriate continued professional development and training are created.
Using the amazing breadth of knowledge already available from the highly skilled individuals we employ across the business we created Glendale’s Management Development Programme.
This 12-month programme aims to give all managers, junior managers and supervisory staff at Glendale the tools they need to excel in their roles.
It covers key business areas including sales, business development, marketing, finance, health and safety, human resources and purchasing and involves a series of peer-led seminars and team building activities.
The business of sharing knowledge and experience like this is extremely fulfilling for everyone involved and is a great way to build interpersonal relationships across the business.
