Glendale, in partnership with Biffa and North Somerset Council, has continued to ensure essential frontline services have been effectively maintained during the coronavirus pandemic and lockdown.
Learn more about how this has been achieved below.
Our North Somerset Council cleaning and grounds maintenance contract has contingency plans already agreed that, should Biffa have a drastic reduction in staffing, then Glendale’s Grounds Maintenance Teams would step in to support.
However, Glendale and Biffa liaised at the start of the pandemic and agreed to implement the contingency plan before the workforce reached the pre-agreed limit; by early engagement, Glendale and Biffa were able to avoid potential problems caused by a reduction in staff and provide an effective front line service.
Glendale and Biffa worked in partnership to organise resources to work efficiently and provide an outstanding service to north Somerset; Glendale’s bulk rubbish team undertook the cardboard collections for Biffa’s recycling teams. Cardboard takes up a large part of the capacity of the recycling lorries; with Glendale undertaking the cardboard collection, the recycling lorries were able to undertake more collections due to the increased capacity, providing a more effective service evidenced by the positive feedback received.
Local counsellors have also appeared on local radio expressing their thanks for a job well done. By implementing measures and proactively engaging with clients and other contractors, Glendale’s team has proved that we are more than just a grounds maintenance contractor.
Here are what two local counsellors had to say about working with Glendale and Biffa:
“Please can you pass on our thanks to John Bates and his team who did a fantastic job over the weekend in very trying circumstances. The general public ignored the Prime Minister’s advice of self-isolating and congregated in huge numbers on the WsM Seafront and Beach and the guys worked tirelessly in keeping the area clean and tidy. The litter bins were filling up as soon as they had been emptied and the boys did their best in keeping up with this. It was like an August Bank Holiday rather than a weekend at the end of Winter. Additionally yesterday morning and this morning they had the Town Centre and Seafront all up together by 8.30am.” – Recycling & Waste Contracts Manager, Development & Environment, North Somerset Council.
“I am writing on behalf of Pill & Easton-in-Gordano Parish Council to thank all members of the Waste/Recycling Team for your magnificent efforts in the kerbside collections during the COVID19 pandemic. As you all know we have experienced difficulties in the past with the reliability of these collections, but the service we are receiving now is first class. The staff are cheerful, hard-working and skilled, and provide further evidence that as key workers in society, they make a major difference to our lives. It has been heart-warming to see the messages and chalked congratulations on the pavements that have been left for staff thanking them for their efforts.” – Chair, Pill & Easton-in-Gordano Parish Council.
We are proud to have risen to the challenges posed by coronavirus and remain committed to meeting our clients’ requirements.
