Kerry Lawrence joined the industry in 1999 as a gardener for the National Trust at Ham House in Richmond.
While undertaking her degree in landscape management she gained more experience in the field working as a team leader for Graham Bell Landscapes. She also worked as a design manager for LTM designs redeveloping the grounds of a Grade II Listed Building.
Kerry graduated from the University of Greenwich in 2002 with a BSc in Landscape Management (Land Use). After graduating she was employed as a supervisor with Glendale on their contract with the London Borough of Islington.
In 2004, Kerry was promoted to the position of contract manager on the organisation’s contract with BAA Ltd (now Gatwick Airport Ltd) maintaining green space at London’s busiest single runway airport, Gatwick. During this time Kerry also supported the south-east region’s business development efforts by pricing and tendering for project work throughout BAA Ltd’s portfolio of airports.
On the back of her success, she was promoted to the role of business development manager for the south-east in 2006, covering grounds and arboricultural works. This diverse role involved the development of new business, targeting key clients through marketing and active selling, and pricing and submitting bids.
In 2009, Kerry became the contract manager for Glendale’s contract managing green space at British Airways’ UK headquarters located on Harmondsworth Moor. Working alongside the in-house facilities management team, Glendale’s contract provided diverse green services for the entire BA Waterside site, including the Waterside building and 290 acres of surrounding parkland on a reclaimed landfill site.
The contract required a high standard of landscaping and maintenance to ensure an attractive working environment was sustained. It included internal and external grounds maintenance, landscaping and design, wildlife preservation, education programmes and biodiversity management,
In 2013 Kerry took on the role of contract manager at Glendale’s Lee Valley Regional Parks Authority contract. Known as the “lungs of London”, this unique 26 mile long, 10,000-acre award winning parkland covers London, Essex and Hertfordshire. In 2016, Kerry was seconded to a general manager’s position to aid in the setting up of the London Borough of Enfield highways and housing contract.
