Glendale maintains £40 sustainable student village

Glendale is providing grounds maintenance services to the student village at the University of Bradford.

The student village, known as The Green, is home to over 1,000 students and is one of the most sustainable developments of its kind in the world.  It was the first student residential project in the UK to receive a BREEAM rating of ‘Outstanding’ and as such, is one of the university’s unique selling points for prospective students.

Glendale will be providing grass cutting, hedge trimming, shrub bed maintenance and weed control services on the £40m development.

David Barkley, contract manager for Glendale, comments: “We are looking forward to working with the University of Bradford maintaining The Green to an exceptional standard not only for the students who live there but also to ensure the site is in a great condition for future students.

“We have to be very aware of the noise restrictions imposed on the student village and we are working with the university to plan our work schedule appropriately to take into account student study times and exam periods.”

The University of Bradford is a research and business facility based in the city directly affecting economic and social development in the region.

Glendale’s contract with the university will last for two years with the potential for a year-long extension.
