60 seconds with Jennifer Brookes

Jennifer Brookes is an experienced sales manager with tree supply, plant and relocation specialist, Glendale Civic Trees.  Here she tells us in 60 seconds why she loves what she does and her top tree planting tips.

How long have your worked for Civic Trees and what do you do?

I have worked at Civic Trees since February 2013 and I am the sales manager.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

Getting to see the different sites around the country and all the different types of gardens.

What has been your most rewarding experience/biggest achievement with Civic Trees to date?

I love knowing that we can arrive on site and quickly fix situations that were major issues for our clients just by moving trees or providing new trees for screening.

What is the greatest challenge of your work?

Making sure I understand my client’s true needs and creating effective solutions that fit the situation.

How did you get started in the tree relocation industry? 

My background is horticulture and design.  When I learned of Civic Trees I love the idea of ‘instant impact’ landscaping and I’ve been hooked since.

What advice would you give to anyone wanted to work in the industry?

Always pay attention to what you are doing.  Large tree installation and translocation takes skill and thoughtful action.

What piece of kit could you not cope without in your day-to-day job?

I’d love to say the treespades, as they are my favourite, but in sales, we definitely couldn’t function without our computers!

What’s your top tree planting or tree care tip?

Know where you are planting!  You can put a perfectly healthy tree in the wrong place and create issue after issue for yourself!
